I was siting there with two middle class, university & public school educated affluent lefties discussing why the working class was abandoning Labour. One, that being the Mrs, opined that it was because they liked voting for Toffs, that is to say Boris. This was a theory of one of her colleagues in the world of sociology. The other, daughter Olaf, did not dissent. Such is the state of denial among the British left.

Lord Mountbatten was murdered by the IRA. And a day after the funeral of his nephew, Prince Philip, Sinn Fein has now apologised. That is in effect an IRA apology for you and I know the two are one and the same. Sinn Fein stands in elections, the IRA butchers men, women and children, runs drugs, robs banks and has a penchant for sexual abuse. But they share personnel, aims and beliefs. The blood dripping from the hands of Sinn Fein is the same blood the IRA spilled. Yet in North America they just cannot see that.

Meghan Markle and her dim husband said that their lie-packed interview with billionaire virtue signaller Oprah Winfrey would be their “last word” on the matter. That now seems to be a lie too as they are happily letting it be known to pet poodles in the press their latest thoughts and feelings. Just when I thought that I could not view the couple as even more despicable, I find that I do. I suppose as a Republican I should not really care but as a human I find myself feeling ever warmer thoughts towards the rest of the Royal Family. Maybe this is long Covid and I cannot think straight but after 53 years as a Republican, I really do feel rather sorry for the rest of the Windsor family.

Wading into the Meghan debate on behalf of her fellow liberal celeb, the unfunny American comedienne Joy Behar gives us a unique take on history. I can see that she picked up a lot from her university degree in sociology. Her essential thesis is that the Royal Family are all Nazis, which means they must be racist as Meghan claims.
